Taxi Service The Monterey Peninsula Transit Service provides bus service from the
airport to many locations on the Monterey Peninsula. By CarHighway 1 is the main artery that takes you through the entire Monterey Peninsula, as well as being the most scenic road you will ever have the pleasure of driving. Departing from Northern California (San Francisco, San Jose), drive south on Highway 101 to Highway 156. West on Highway 156 through Castroville to Highway 1 south. Departing from Southern California (Los Angeles) drive north on Highway 101 to Highway 68 in Salinas. West on Highway 68 brings you to the Monterey Peninsula.By BusIf you do not have a car, there is the Monterey Peninsula Transit to get around town. "The Bus" as it is known here makes runs between Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove, Big Sur, and Carmel Valley."The Wave" is the bus to take for specific destination. The Wave moves along the waterfront from downtown Monterey to Cannery Row. An all day pass can be purchased for $1.00 . The Wave runs every 15 minutes from 9 am to 9 pm on weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day. You can board The Wave by standing at any one of "The Wave" signposts, or you can catch it at the Monterey Transit Plaza, located at Pearl and Alvarado Street.
